The Greensboro Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body responsible for hearing and deciding appeals, variance requests, special exceptions, interpretations of the zoning regulations, and special-use permits. The board is charged with upholding the purpose and intent of the development ordinance when there are practical difficulties or unnecessary hardships resulting from carrying out the strict letter of the law. The Board of Adjustment is composed of seven members appointed by City Council to three-year terms. Regular meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 pm in the Katie Dorsett Council Chamber of the Melvin Municipal Office Building (MMOB).
The Board of Adjustment adheres to a prescribed set of "Rules of Procedure" to ensure efficient operation.
