South Greensboro, a vibrant and growing part of our city, is the focus of a new and exciting planning project.

Staff from across several City departments are working with the area's residents to study critical issues and creative solution options to improve the quality of life and guide future growth of the area.

This will be accomplished with neighborhood workshops, events, surveys, and lots of conversations!

Once developed and adopted in late 2025, the South Greensboro Plan will be a resource for City staff, residents, business owners, and decision makers to lead the way into a prosperous, safe, and closely knit community.

  • 1. I am interested in the South Greensboro Plan. How can I participate?

    I’m so glad you asked! In addition to the regular outreach activities * we do, we welcome any invitation to present, partner, collaborate, or celebrate you and/or your organization. Please let us know how we can help make your participation with the plan as easy and meaningful as possible.

    *Regular outreach activities include: public meetings, stakeholder interviews, publications, social media posts, press releases, door-to-door outreach, and online and paper surveys
  • 2. What is the schedule for this planning process?

    The plan has been broken into the following themes and schedule. Along the way, staff is hosting additional   pop-up events and presentations.

      - September 2024 – Vision

      - October 2024 – Mobility and Great Places

      - January 2025 - Environment and Economics

      - Spring 2025 – Culture and Authenticity

      - Summer 2025 – Draft Plan

      - Fall 2025 – Plan delivered to City Council

    Beginning with the Existing Conditions Report  and the other plans that speak to this area, it is clear that this plan is a continuation of an ongoing conversation about the needs and opportunities in the area.   • 4. How does this plan relate to the Randleman Road Plan?

    The Randleman Road Plan is a corridor plan focused on the roadway, sidewalk, and properties adjacent to the roadway. The south Greensboro Plan is broader, including the neighborhoods, other roads, and other issues throughout the south Greensboro area. The Randleman Road Plan recommendations will be coordinated with the South Greensboro Plan recommendations.
  • 5. When will the items in the plan be built/implemented?

    Some plan elements are expected to be implemented within a few years, potentially kickstarting other investments. Bigger projects might take longer and need local champions to keep them prioritized amidst changing markets, demographics, budgets, and unforeseen events. Plans are living documents, adaptable to help manage unforeseen changes.
