It's important to make sure your planned location conforms with the City's regulation of having STRs separated by 750 feet or more. Need to report a STR issue or situation?

Call 336-387-6137 or submit this online form 24/7 to report an issue or situation with an operating STR near you. Complaints will be recorded by the City’s third-party vendor who will contact the STR owner/operator (“Responsible Person”) of the property in question. The owner/operator will handle the situation from that point forward.


Short Term Rental Owners/Operators Requirements

If in person, complete this fillable pdf application and bring it, other required documentation, and the $200 non-refundable fee, to the Planner of the Day at the Melvin Municipal Office Building (City Hall), 300 W. Washington St.

Building hours are 8 am to 5 pm Mondays to Fridays.

Enter the building from W. Washington. After entering and checking in at the security desk, take the hallway on the left into Development Services. The Planner of the Day desk is immediately on the right.

Pay for the permit with cash, check (made payable to City of Greensboro) or credit card.

Designated free parking is available in the City/County lot at the corner of W. Washington and Eugene streets.
