The purpose of the show -- Around the Globe: GYC’s International House of Fashion -- is to promote anti-bullying through positive self-image by displaying fashions that fit all body types. Audience members will become 'passengers' on GYC Airlines, touring unique fashions from countries such as England, Jamaica, France, and USA. Plato’s Closet and Rainbow will provide the clothing for the teen models.
During the show, a representative from Win-Win Resolutions will talk about bullying, its negative effects on self-image, and the way teens can take a stand against it. The tagline, “Step up to bullying before someone gets step on,” has been used to create awareness of this widespread problem. Da’Jiah Curtis, chair of the fashion show, and her staff will present a video with interviews by GYC youth addressing the subject of bullying. POINTE! Studio of Dance will also perform during the show. A raffle with gift cards to local businesses will be included during the evening.
