waterqualityThe Stormwater Management Division’s Stream Monitoring Program is designed to assess the water quality of streams in the Greensboro area. Stream monitoring takes place on the same day every month in order to gather data during a variety of conditions, including dry weather and storm events.

Twenty monitoring sites are strategically located around the city and county, allowing for more inclusive sampling data. The impacts of pollutants on streams can be determined by comparing the data gathered from this monthly sampling program. Significant changes in the measured water quality parameters may indicate that a pollution problem exists.

Not only does this program help determine water quality trends over time, but it also helps identify and eliminate sources of pollution through data analysis and followup investigations.
