The City of Greensboro received its initial National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit (#NCS000248) for the discharge of stormwater from the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Division of Water Quality in December 1994. The permit was renewed on June 1, 2024, and remains effective for five years.

The City's Stormwater Management Division developed a Stormwater Management Plan to document the program measures implemented to comply with the City's permit. The plan and State NPDES permit are available upon request by calling the Stormwater Management Division at 336-373-2055.
