The Brown Bark Park project used natural stream design to restore approximately 2,900 linear feet of stream for the North Carolina Ecosystem Enhancement Program. The stream had eroded banks, had been artificially straightened, and lacked aquatic habitat. New stream channels were designed and vegetation planted to stabilize the stream banks. The construction was completed in 2004.
