Walk & Bike to School Days
Walk and Bike to School Day events are great opportunities to encourage families to participate in regular physical activity and promote safe walking and biking at your school.
Schools enrolled in the SR2S Membership Program are eligible to partner with Greensboro for a Walk to School Day events in October and Bike to School Day events in May. Sign-up for eNotifications to receive an alert for when the Bike Month application period opens in Spring 2022.
School partners will receive:
- Event planning support and promotion.
- Safety information designed for caregivers.
- Custom safety materials for each event type.
Event Types
Remote Starting Point for a Group
Invite parents and students to meet in one location with a large parking lot and walk or bicycle to school together. Safe Routes 2 School will provide custom signs and a connection to Greensboro Police for traffic control support.
Park-and-Walk for Individuals
Encourage parents to skip the carpool line on the morning of the event and instead park-and-walk at identified locations near the school. Safe Routes 2 School will provide safety activity books with a custom map of park-and-walk locations.
Walk or Bike at School and Home
Celebrate walking and biking for then entire moth by encouraging students to be more active both at school and at home. Safe Routes 2 School will provide safety activity books with a weekly tracker for students to record their progress.
