About Project

State project NC DOT Project U-6108 is intended to:

• Manage traffic flow and congestion.
• Provide a less-confusing roadway network.
• Improve safety for all roadway users.
• Preserve and enhance bus stop access.
• Accommodate the future Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
• Maintain as much existing access to destinations as possible.

Project Funding & Timeline

The project remains in the early planning stages. Funding for initial engineering work for the project is included in the 2024-2033 State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), which identifies transportation funding and a schedule for projects over a 10-year period.

Funding for construction for the reconfiguration has not yet been identified, meaning the project construction timelines are years out.
