Home MenuOperation PASS
Each summer as a new school year approaches, the Greensboro Police Department (GPD) holds its Operation PASS events. The goal of this program is to partner with the community to provide backpacks and school supplies for students in need just prior to the school year starting. These event sites vary each year and specific neighborhoods are chosen by GPD in order to make the greatest impact and build relationships in specific Greensboro communities.
In addition to providing backpacks, school supplies, and building relationships with officers, the GPD also seeks to educate families on resources available for their youth. These events are a large collaborative effort involving patrol officers, PNRC (Police Neighborhood Resource Center) officers, community resource officers, and school resource officers for the schools within each area. In addition, the GPD Office of Community Engagement and Community Resource Coordinator help to make connections with families and students.
The Operation PASS program could not be successful without our various partners including community watch groups, community associations, local businesses, and ministry partners. Those Greensboro residents and groups that wish to support this program may do so by providing a monetary contribution to the Greensboro Police Foundation or by donating backpacks filled with school supplies at one of our sub-stations during the month of June.
