GPD’s Educational Internship Program

The Educational Internship Program was implemented by the Greensboro Police Department to provide professional experience and meet the academic requirements of North Carolina university degree programs. This program provides future police officers and crime-scene investigators an opportunity to experience real-world police applications. Students are assigned to work alongside officers and crime-scene investigators in investigative and patrol capacities.

The Internship Program provides opportunities to students studying the following disciplines: law, communications, community engagement/relations, events/programming, and information technology. Students are assigned to our Police Attorneys, Office of Community Engagement, and Information Technology Department.

Areas of Interest

Students applying for an internship with the GPD should specify one of the following areas of interest.

  • Police
  • Forensics
  • Law (students enrolled in law school)
  • Community Engagement/Communications/Programs/Events
  • Public Safety Information Technology

The City is accepting applications for spring 2025. Please complete the GPD Internship Application if interested.
