Beauty ~ Shade ~ Sustainability ~ Community
Trees are a significant asset to our community and they highlight the beauty of nature. Recognizing the importance of trees in our community, the Greensboro City Council adopted the Tree Preservation and Landscape ordinances.
To honor projects that exceed and creatively embrace this ordinance, the Greening Greensboro Awards were created. By thoughtfully incorporating reforestation and tree preservation techniques, previous winners have exhibited ways to protect our environment through forest stewardship.
The City's Urban Forestry division accepts nominations for the awards throughout the year. Please e-mail Urban Forester Judson Clinton about the program. Anyone wanting to nominate a development project that has exhibited outstanding environmental stewardship in the preservation or reforestation of trees can submit an application and return it to the Urban Forester. Successful nominees will be presented an award before City Council.
The wonder is that we can see these trees and not wonder more.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
A man does not plant a tree for himself, he plants it for posterity.
