The Greensboro Advisory Commission on Trees (ACT) was dissolved by the Greensboro City Council on October 2, 2012. The former functions of ACT were merged into those of the Planning Board and Zoning Commission. This page has been retained for archival purposes. For more information concerning the Advisory Commission on Trees contact the Planning Department at 336-373-2150.
The ACT was originally established to review appeals of decisions made by the administrative review official charged with enforcing the Tree Preservation Ordinance. The Commission was also responsible for reviewing the Tree Preservation and Landscape Ordinances and advising staff on appropriate changes to the text. Finally, the Commission provided professional expertise for developing program goals and policies for the Greensboro Urban Forestry Program.
The Advisory Commission on Trees was composed of nine citizen members appointed by City Council for three year terms. Regular meetings were held on the first Wednesday of each month at 3 pm in the Council Chamber of the Melvin Municipal Office Building, 300 W. Washington St.
