In 2002, the City recognized that certain neighborhoods need its assistance to develop a strategy for improving and enhancing their community. Since then, a collaborative effort involving multiple City departments has been underway to identify areas, work with community leaders and neighborhood associations, develop Neighborhood Strategic Plans, and implement change.

The City works with neighborhoods across the Greensboro community. Neighborhood planning activities are managed by the Planning Department, whose staff works closely with other City departments such as Police, Transportation, Field Operations, and Parks and Recreation.

Partnering with neighbors and neighborhood associations, this unique collaboration provides an opportunity for neighborhoods to manage and guide their community’s future through the development of neighborhood plans.

Another way City projects can help neighborhoods enhance their communities is through NeighborWoods.
