Become a GYC Member in Four East Steps!

  • Step 1: Attend a GYC Orientation/Interest meeting.
    • Orientations will be held September through March. Check the GYC Calendar, it will have the dates and times.
  • Step 2: Complete a GYC Application. 
  •  Step 3: Pay a one-time $30 membership fee.
    • Fee covers the entire time you're in high school and is part of completing the online application.
    • Membership fee is paid online with the GYC application. 
      • An e-mail confirmation will be sent with an additional "get to know you" form once the form and fees are received. Please note this can take 5-7 business days.
  • Step 4: Sign up to start volunteering.
    • Volunteer opportunities will be posted on the GYC Volunteer Opportunities page.
    • GYC members will also receive information to access on online volunteer management system. There you can sign up to volunteer and track your hours.

Membership welcome packet is given to new members at the monthly meeting after their application is completed and confirmation is sent. See "Perks" section below for membership incentives.

Maintaining Membership

It is important that all members actively participate in GYC. Below are the GYC membership requirements. Remember this is only the minimum, we encourage you to earn more hours to develop your skills and service the community.

Dedication is key!

Beginning August 2024, there will be a $10 membership renewal fee. This fee assist with maintenance of volunteer software, volunteer hours, and increasing cost of supplies and program needs.

Requirement Description

5 hours per month

 Earn 5 hours each month September- April.
January is the only month there is no minimum requirement.
1 shift at each event Volunteer at least one shift at each GYC event.
You can always sign up for more to gain additional or double hours.
3 workshops per year Attend three GYC Institute Workshops each year.
These count as double hours for attending.
1 meeting per month Attend and participate in GYC monthly meetings. 
Normally held the first Thursday of each month. Only allowed to miss two per year.
 2 middle school events

 Volunteer at two middle school events that GYC plans or assists with.

There will be at least one event each semester.
 

Optional opportunities to earn more hours include serving on a committee, donating toys to Santa's Workshops, serving on a project staff, sharing posts on social media, and attending quarterly socials.
