Greensboro Parks and Recreation youth cheerleading creates a positive environment for youth ages 5-13 to cheer during the football and basketball seasons. It emphasizes each individual's right to participate, good sportsmanship, promoting skill development, fitness and well-being. Greensboro is nationally recognized as a Better Sports for Kids Quality Program Provider by the National Alliance for Youth Sports

Our Philosophy

All Greensboro Parks and Recreation Athletic programs maintain a family friendly and sportsmanlike atmosphere. Review the codes of conduct for coaches, parents, and players. These guidelines extend to all who enter the playing and spectator areas.

Program Details

The youth Cheer program is organized and supervised by the Athletic Section at Recreation Centers that offer youth football during the fall; and youth basketball during the winter. The Athletic Section may assign cheerleaders outside of their registration area to form teams.

Fall Registration: R.E.D. Zone Football Cheer

• Registration: April 8 to July 26
  • Neighborhood Recreation Center 
  • Online
• Locations: 
  • Glenwood, Leonard, Lewis, Peeler, and Warnersville Recreation Centers. Players who would normally participate at Windsor may sign up at any other center.
    • Bring a completed registration form, PAYS card, and child's birth certificate.
    • Parent Association in Youth Sports (PAYS)
• Fee: $50 per child
  • Full payment is due at time of registration
• Ages: 5-13 years old. Age is determined as of September 1 for fall.

• Fee: $50 per child

• Late Registration: December 2-6 $65

• Ages: 5-13 years old. Age is determined as of December 31 for winter.
