History

In December 2019, the Greensboro City Council passed the 100 percent Renewable Energy Resolution to guide the City's transition to using renewable energy sources. In 2022, the Office of Sustainability and Resilience was created to oversee the creation of a Strategic Energy Plan and lead the City in a broad range of internal and external sustainability initiatives.

Sustainability is the ability to meet and maintain our current needs by reducing the use of the earth’s natural and personal resources in order to avoid depletion.
