The Human Rights Department's Fair Housing Education and Outreach Program provides fair housing education to landlords, tenants, advocates, realtors, housing-related professionals, representatives, and most importantly, the people in protected classes who most often face discrimination.
Our informational presentations can be modified to meet the specific needs of an agency or group. We welcome the opportunity to participate in local and regional conferences, summits, and events sponsored by the Greensboro Housing Authority.
The presentations provide an overview of fair housing and are designed to increase awareness of the Fair Housing Act. Sessions go into detail regarding intake, screening, investigation, and types of properties covered by law, as well as the protected classes (race, color, religion, national origin, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, and familial status). Our staff discusses enforcement issues, what to do if you are a victim of housing discrimination, and the role of the City in this process.
Speaking engagements are scheduled upon request. To schedule a speaker, call 336-373-2038.
