The Human Rights Commission improves the quality of life for Greensboro residents by encouraging fair treatment and promoting mutual understanding and respect among all people.

Some of the Commission's more prominent events are the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast and the Let's Talk Series.

Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast - The 2024 breakfast featured keynote speaker Kenneth B. Morris, Jr., co-founder and president of the Frederick Douglass Freedom Initiatives. Winners of the City's Everyday Champions of Civil Rights Awards were recognized. Watch the event on the City's YouTube page and see photos on the Human Rights Facebook page.

The commission welcomes breakfast sponsors to help offset costs and provide scholarships for deserving guests. Contact Paula Washington at 336-373-7838 or by email for sponsorship information.

Let's Talk Series Since 2021 the Human Rights Commission has hosted an annual series of virtual programs to inform the community about different human rights topics. The series has discussed various legal concepts, issues related to accessibility, and civil rights.

Email Commissions Administrator Liz Lennon for invitations and updates about these virtual programs, plus other Commission activities.
