More About Our Work
Creative Greensboro announces the 56th season of drama programming sponsored by the City of Greensboro featuring the continuation of the Creative Greensboro Playwrights Forum, and a variety of performance opportunities for all ages in partnership with several local theatre companies. Learn more.
Playwrights, emerging to established, will find a supportive home and network through our programming. The Playwrights Forum was founded in 1993. Its mission is to aid playwrights of the Piedmont Triad and North Carolina in getting published or produced through contacts, marketing, and improving their skill as dramatic writers. Members have the opportunity to see their plays live onstage through three key opportunities, the Evening of Short Plays, the North Carolina New Play Project, and the Page to Stage reading series. For more details click here.Children and Teens will find many ways to get involved with our drama programming. Our youngest friends, ages 7-12, participate in Short Tales each winter. These one-act plays are directed by student directors and provide a performance opportunity (often, the young actor’s first performance!) for everyone who auditions. Full-length straight plays for young actors are offered as well. In the summer, the Whole Family can participate in our productions together! Our summer musical and Shakespeare productions boast large casts and many ways to get involved. It’s not just on stage where our participants shine. Youth and adults can work backstage in stage management, set construction, directing, lighting, costuming, and even assist with design.
The Residency at the Hyers program will provide rent-free residencies of one to six weeks for dance, theatre, music, film, and poetry projects being led by Guilford County based creative individuals and organizations. In addition to access to the 88-seat black box theatre for rehearsals and performances, resident artists will be offered support with materials, equipment, technical theatre staff, and marketing of residency activities.
