Neighborhood Arts: Residency Program
Neighborhood Arts Residency Programs supports artists and residents as co-leaders to connect communities with creativity. The program brings creative experiences close to home through arts activities and beautification projects that respond to neighborhood priorities. The program focuses on the five communities of the City's Housing GSO plan: Dudley Heights, Glenwood, Kings Forest, Mill District, and Random Woods. The neighborhoods chosen for the program were identified for reinvestment in that plan.
As a direct response to strategies included in Greensboro's Cultural Arts Plan, Neighborhood Arts launched six-month, artist residencies in 2021 in the Dudley Heights, Glenwood, and Kings Forest neighborhoods. In 2022, the program expanded to include artist residencies in Mill District and Random Woods. Neighborhood Arts: Residency Program has completed these $22,500 residencies, which include at least one culminating outdoor visual art project in all five neighborhoods.
Additional support for Neighborhood Arts is provided by the City’s Housing and Neighborhood Development, Transportation, Parks and Recreation and Library departments.
