Adult Special Needs Summer Reading Storytime

  • CostFree

Storytime is not just for kids. Multi-sensory experiences are the best way to engage audiences of all ages and abilities. The storytime will include literacy through short books and storytelling, music, and movement related to a central theme--Friendship, Unity, and Kindness.

Sensory storytime makes stories come alive for special needs adults in ways they can touch, taste, see, smell, and hear. Using old favorites as well as new stories, repetitive rhymes, and interactive call and response in both reading and music, participants can develop their comprehension and literacy skills, as well as refining social skills through interaction with their peers and library staff.

The collaborative summer reading theme for 2023 is All Together Now. Participants will work together to create an art project that will be on display at Central Library.

Space is limited, and registration is encouraged. For more information or to register, email Antuan Hawkins or call 336-335-5430.
