Monday, October 10 at 6 pm and Wednesday, October 12 at 12 noon, Greensboro Parks and Recreation will hold virtual public meetings to share information about the City’s first adaptive mountain bike (aMTB) trail at Keeley Park. The trail will be designed to allow individuals of all abilities to access the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of mountain biking. This intentional design will open the sport to people typically excluded from mountain biking by providing wider paths, more stable surfaces, and other features appropriate to adaptive mountain bikes.
Grant funds awarded through the VF Foundation will support design and construction efforts for the trail. Parks and Recreation is also applying for Accessibility for Parks grant funding administered through the N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation to fund the development of a trailhead parking area along Camp Burton Road. The trail will be open to all users with a targeted focus on engaging veterans with disabilities.
