Join Friends of the Library volunteer Whitney van der Werff for a discussion of the book Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life by Karen Armstrong. And in September, the Library will conduct a community-wide Day of Listening focused on elders in the community.
Both events are part of the Building Common Ground: Discussions of Community, Civility and Compassion, an American Library Association (ALA) project. Greensboro Public Library was one of 30 libraries in the nation selected by ALA to participate in the project.
According to ALA, the book “offers a practicum for bringing the Golden Rule into play in everyday life.”
