Do you own or are interested in buying a historic property in Greensboro? If so, you may want to attend a June 21 workshop to learn how taking advantage of historic tax credits can save on renovation expenses.

The free workshop takes place from 5:30-7 pm at Scuppernong Books, 304 S. Elm St., and will be conducted by David Christenbury, a preservation architect and state rehabilitation tax credit coordinator for the NC State Historic Preservation Office.

Christenbury will discuss and answer questions about state and federal Historic Preservation Tax Credit incentives. These credits are available to owners doing work on properties that are either listed on the National Register of Historic Places or located in a National Register Historic District.

The Bain Building, where this workshop is taking place, was built in 1900 and is located in the Downtown Greensboro National Register Historic District. The building is a former tax credit project, now home to Scuppernong, a locally owned business.
