The mural depicting the history of Fairview Recreation Center, Mabel D. Smith Senior Center, Cone Mills, and the White Oak community was completed this summer during the two-week visual arts summer camp “Murals, Minds, and Communities.”
The summer camp was hosted by the African American Atelier and the Atelier Around the World Youth Program in collaboration with Smith Senior Center, the Parks and Recreation Department, and the City of Greensboro. Under the instruction of professional artist and muralist Stephen McIntyre, camp participants learned about mural design, 3-D composition, and art in public places.
