About the Artist
Sasha Woods is a self-taught accessory designer based in Greensboro, NC, and is known for creating unique, handmade accessories displaying a bold, editorial style. Sasha operates her fashion brand, The Ultimate Junki, while also working as a certified nursing assistant and licensed phlebotomist.
In 2016, Sasha won the Greensboro Goodwill Rock the Runway accessory edition competition with a clutch and matching earrings made from newspaper. That same year, she won the ISAFARI Fashion Week designer competition in her first experience presenting on the runway. She made history as the first accessory designer to have her own runway lineup at Winston Salem Fashion Week and has showcased her work at various events, including the Big Hair Ball Charity fundraiser and New York Fashion Week.
In 2017, after being told her work had no place in traditional fashion shows, Sasha launched the Junki Accessory Freak Show, an innovative accessory-focused event in Greensboro. In 2022, she founded the “Get in the Mix” Fashion Meetup for fashion enthusiasts to network and collaborate.
About GROW
GROW is a flexible creative space, managed by Creative Greensboro, the City’s office for arts and culture. Compensated residencies of up to twelve weeks are awarded to Guilford County-based creative individuals and organizations to produce new and original works that encourage visitation and engagement by the public. Each residency includes at least six hours of weekly programming that is offered to the public free of charge. This project is supported by the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
