About “There will be Drama! – a show about putting on a show”
The cast and production team will work collaboratively to create an original show which will incorporate music, movement, and creative scene work. Our show entitled, There Will Be Drama will start out with no scripts – just an inspiring theme and an enthusiastic spirit of collaboration. Over the course of the program our participants work with each other as well as acting, musical, and inclusion specialists to develop a totally original show for the community. The final performances promise to bring large doses of joy, laughter, and feel-good warm fuzzies as the audience experiences the dreams and passions of the participants come to life on stage.
One of our participants said it best, “This program meets disabled people where they are. The director doesn’t have predetermined expectations for the cast. Performers get the opportunity to grow and progress at their own pace and they create a performance that speaks to the things that are important to each individual.” Come and experience the magic for yourself!
About Theatre For All
Triad Pride’s Theatre for All is a tuition-free program that strives to remove accessibility barriers allowing our performers to express their ideas, talents, and unique stories! An Inclusion Specialist and inclusion facilitators are available throughout the program to facilitate any physical, emotional, or communication needs. Over the course of the program, we workshop the unique skills and ideas of all participants through theatre games, collaborative exercises, and small group work. The end result is a marvelously blended and cohesive show with an uplifting and unifying theme.
Each and every time we assemble a cast, our team is amazed to see the participants transform. Their confidence grows, they develop a greater sense of self, and they form lasting bonds of friendship with their fellow performers.
About the Residency
In the past, our program has been offered in two-week sessions. The four-week residency in the Hyers will give our cast and crew the opportunity to dig deeper into the creative experience and spend more time developing their performance, technical, and communication skills. Additionally, we will include opportunities for those interested in lighting/sound tech, set/costume design, and stage management – rounding out the program to include all aspects of the theatre experience. The residency will provide a more relaxed rehearsal schedule allowing creativity to thrive and flourish, giving actors more time to hone their scenes and develop their characters as they prepare for performances. We will also offer our first ever interactive Community Engagement Event led by the participants in conjunction with Downtown Greensboro’s First Friday happenings on October 4 beginning at 7:30 pm.
