Saturday Flick Fest: "Village of the Damned" & "Freaks"

  • CostFree

Join us for the a MGM horror film double feature. MGM studio was not known for horror films, but produced these two classics in the genre. Both are unrated. Village of the Damned  (1960) is the story of a day the peaceful village of Midwich is cast into a mysterious sleep for several hours, but with no obvious consequences, until soon all the women of child-bearing age turn out to be pregnant. Their children are all born at the same time, and grow quickly into very spooky young people, with strange white-blonde hair and eerie eyes.

Freaks (1932) caused an outrage upon it’s release and was banned for many years. When trapeze artist Cleopatra learns that circus midget Hans has an inheritance, she marries the lovesick, diminutive performer, all the while planning to steal his fortune and run off with her lover, strong man Hercules. When Hans' friends and fellow performers discover what is going on, they band together and carry out a brutal revenge that leaves Hercules and Cleopatra knowing what it truly means to be a "freak."

There will be popcorn and candy. The audience can also submit title suggestions for future screenings. It will be a joy, so we want to see you there. Contact Ronald Headen at  email or call 336-412-6199 for more information.
