Join us for the Animation is Cinema Club where once a month we screen an animated film, shorts, or episodes to celebrate the storytelling and artistry of animation from across the globe. Expect modern hits, art-house gems, hand-drawn classics, anime, stop motion, and more.

This month's screening will be the sci-fi anime classic, Ghost in the Shell (1995), directed by Mamoru Oshii. 

The film is presented in remembrance of voice actor Atsuko Tanaka who passed away on August 20, 2024 at the age of 61. Across numerous films and TV series', Tanaka played Major Motoko Kusanagi, the main character of Ghost in the Shell, in addition to a number of other iconic anime and video game roles throughout her 30 year acting career. The film is Rated R and will be presented in the original Japanese with English subtitles. Parental discretion is strongly advised.
