City of Greensboro offices and facilities are closed Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29, in observance of Thanksgiving. The City’s trash and recycling crews will operate on a holiday schedule.
- No garbage, recycling, bulk trash, yard waste, or appliance collections will take place on Thursday, November 28. That day’s collections will happen a day earlier on Wednesday, November 27. Collections on Friday, November 29, remain the same.
- The White Street Landfill and Solid Waste Transfer Station are closed on Thursday, November 28. Regular hours resume Friday, November 29.
- All locations of the Greensboro Public Library system and the Greensboro Cultural Center are closed on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29. Regular hours resume on Saturday, November 30.
- The Greensboro History Museum is closed Thanksgiving Day and resumes regular hours Friday, November 29.
- The J. Edward Kitchen Operations Center will be closed to all in-person services on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29. Regular hours resume Monday, December 2. Alternative ways to pay a water bill can be found at www.greensboro-nc.gov/PayWaterBill. For water and sewer emergencies, including main breaks and sewer stoppages, or changes in taste, odor, or color of drinking water, call Water Resources 24-hour Dispatch at 336-373-2033.
- The Greensboro Sportsplex, Simkins Indoor Sports Pavilion at Barber Park, Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation, Greensboro Youth Council, Xperience @ Caldcleugh, and Greensboro Parks and Recreation administrative offices are closed November 28 and 29. The City’s recreation centers, Smith Active Adult Center, and Trotter Active Adult Center are closed Thursday, November 28 through Sunday, December 1. Lake Townsend, Lake Brandt, and Lake Higgins are closed Thursday, November 28, and will re-open Friday, November 29. City cemeteries are open, but no services are allowed on Thanksgiving Day. Gillespie Golf Course, public gardens, Barber, Country, Hester, and Keeley parks are closed Thanksgiving Day and resume normal operating hours on Friday, November 29. City trails are open to the public.
- There is no GTA or Access GSO service on Thursday, November 28. On Friday, November 29, GTA and Access GSO run on a weekend schedule with operations from 6 am to 10 pm.
