The North Carolina Collection of the Greensboro Public Library includes print and electronic resources for the Genealogy and Local History collections. Below you will find links to partner institutions such as the Greensboro Historical Museum's collections and archives, as well as links to North Carolina A&T State University's Archives and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro's Civil Rights Greensboro Project, a collection of archival sources on the Civil Rights Movement in Greensboro. The collection also features links to the archival collections of Bennett College, Guilford College, and Greensboro College.

The archives at the Greensboro Historical Museum house a major local history photography collection, as well as maps and collections of historical papers about local history. The staff will be happy to respond to questions and also make appointments with anyone wanting to use the archives.

Local History in the North Carolina Collection includes online resources such as the O.Henry portal and archival sources on the Civil Rights Movement in Greensboro. On the second floor of the Central Library is a non-circulating collection of books about all aspects of North Carolina. While it includes much material about various areas of the state and about the state as a whole, it particularly focuses on Greensboro and Guilford County.

The Genealogy Collection has online resources such as databases for searching your ancestors, as well as links to national ancestry databases. On the second floor of the Central Library is a non-circulating collection of books, genealogical journals, and microfilm helpful to genealogists. While the focus is on North Carolina, the collection includes many resources on other states. The Donnell File includes genealogical work from a well-known local genealogist.

UNCG’s archives, located in Jackson Library, are open to the public. Their specialties include the archives for the university, a manuscript collection, and a collection concerning women veterans.

A&T’s archives include information about A&T history, as well as the papers of George Simkins, a local civil rights leader.

 bennett The Bennett College History collection contains photographs of campus buildings from the early period of Bennett College.
 guilford college The Friends Historical Collection in the Hege Library includes the college’s archives, collections of photos, manuscripts and artifacts, and Quaker Records.
 greensboro college The Greensboro College Archives in the Brock Historical Museum’s digital collection includes, yearbooks of Greensboro and Davenport College, the student newspaper, and collections of photographs and manuscripts.
